ENGINE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PART NO 3930948 Cont GENERAL INFORMATION 1 When installing clutch housing transmission pilot bore alignment and face runout should be checked as specified in the Chevrolet Shop Manual Also transfer inspection cover underpan clutch fork boot and all attaching parts 2 Models with optional equipment require transfer or replacementof engine parts special to such options 3 When using on powerglide models remove clutch pilot bushing from crankshaft 4 This cylinder block assembly has a composite cylinder and case with two 2 machined oil level gauge bosses A special pin part no 3848405 is included with this assembly for the purpose of plugging the oil level gauge tube hole not applicable to the installation 5 A plug is provided in the cylinder head temperature switch hole for models prior to 1967 For 1967 models remove plug to insert temperature switch 6 On closed ventilation models remove the center portion of the grommet included with the rocker cover in order to assemble the hose and pipes 7 Distributor attaching parts also require transfer from the replaced engine 8 When transferring front end covers and oil pans on 1967 and prior models the use of oil pan gasket unit 3930962 is required Also the four front attaching bolts can be discarded as they are not required with the use of the oil pan seal contained in the gasket unit 197O CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVIS ON GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION P A 3OA 56
