I 2 7 A S S E M B L Y I N s T R u c T I 0 N S 3862 00 CORVAIR I0000 SERIES 2 5 CONTINUED GAUGES FAILING TO ZERO WHEN EXPOSED TO ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE SHALL BE RECALIBRATED AND ADJUSTED OR REPLACE PRESSURE GAUGES FOR FUNCTIONAL TEST EACH PLANT SHALL HAVE CALIBRATED HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE GAIDEI AVAILABLE FOR CHECKING THE OPERATING PRESSURE OF THE CAR SYSTEMS ANY PRESSURE GAUGE ASSEMBLED PRIOR TO EVACUATION SHALL BE CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING THE MSXIMUM VACUUM WITHOUT AFFECTING CALIBRATION THE LOW PRESSURE GAUGES SHALL BE MARKED IN INCREMENTS OF NOT GREATER THAN 1 P S I AT THE CONTROL PRESSURE APPROX 30 P S I G AND SHALL BE CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING A PRESSURE OF 120 P S I G WITHOU T DAMAGE OR CHANGE IN CALIBRATION THE HIGHE PRESSURE GAUGES SHALL HAVE A RANGE UP TO AT LEAST 300 P S I G AND SHALL BE READABLE TO AN ACCURACY OF 2 P S I 2 6 VACUUM SYSTEM EACH ASSEMBLY PLANT SHALL HAVE EVACUATION EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR USE AS A PRE CHARGING REQUIREMENT FOR THE OCCASIONAL REPLACE MENT OF COMPONENTS FOR SUCH SERVICE A VACUUM PUMP CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A VACUUM OF 28 IN OFLMERCURY WILL BE SATISFACTORY AND A PORTABLE ROTARY TYPE PUMP IS AVAILABLE WHERE EVACUATION OF 28 IN HG IS REQUIRED A STANDARD VACUUM OR COMPOUND GAUGE CALIBRATED IN INCREMENTS NOT GREATER THAN 1 IN HG MAY BE USED A MINIMUM SCALE DIAMETER OF 2 1 2 BICHES ON FULL SCALE VACUUM GAUGES AND 3 INCHES ON COMPOUND GAUGES IS RECOMMENDED 2 7 FREON 12 LEAK DETECTOR DETECTION OF LEAKS IS PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHECK OF A REFRIG ERATION ASSEMBLY AS A LEAK FREE SYSTEM IS VTTAL TO PROPER OPERATION AND LIFE DETECTION EFFICIENCY DEPENDS UPON THE SENSITIVITY OF THE INSTRUMENT AND THE FREEDOM OF THE SURROUNDING ATM BPHERE FROM FREON AND OTHER CONTAMINATING VAPORS THE THREE COMMON TYPES OF DETECTORS INCLUDE ALCOHOL TORCH SENSI TIVITY 1 LB IN 15 YEARS APPROX GAS TORCH SENSITIVITY 1 LB IN 10 YEARS APPROX G E ELECTRONIC DETECTOR SENSITIVITY CAN BE VARIED AS DESIRED Q TO INCLUDE 1 LB IN 40 YEARS OR HIGHER S z me eg V I if Q ji AIR CONDITIONING GENERAL SPECS E g PROCEDURES l ev 10100 SN 5 1 az ri E DWG 2 7 REE Pnl E L L TV 2 7 L L K Z 1 1965 197
